Assessment

An assessment is an evaluation of your concerns, to gain a more holistic understanding of you in context. The results of the assessment will guide our recommendations and the choice of support.

Our first meeting is a chance to get to know each other. This may include diagnostic questioning and collaborative talking and listening, so as to understand what has been happening to you, what you are feeling and thinking, your behaviour, and how this is impacting the quality of your personal and/or professional life. We want to understand your strengths, concerns, and/or the need for further investigations/ exploration, which may include referral to other specialists, psychometric assessment, and  either therapeutic support or coaching. Further, you may be asked to complete questionnaires or do simple tasks to help gain a clearer picture of how best to help you to achieve your desired outcomes, and to provide you with the right support. We aim to be respectful, culturally sensitive, and supportive of your needs, to allow you to feel safe so that you can speak openly on sensitive topics. This process is designed to instil hope in you for your future.

If we do not believe we are the professionals best suited to support you, we will recommend and facilitate your referral to an appropriate professional we know and trust.

Should we agree to work together, we will then discuss frequency and duration of our sessions (1 -1.5 hours) and the corresponding consultation fees. We will also discuss issues of consent, privacy, and confidentiality. For us, ‘what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas;’ and unless we become concerned for your safety or the safety of another, you disclose an unlawful act, or you request that we provide information to another person, we will agree that ‘our meeting room is Vegas’. We will, however, always discuss any matters with you first.
